Back To Counting
I'm trying to enjoy this weekend of free eating, but if I decide not to do that half marathon, I will be back to calorie counting on monday. It won't be too bad as I will be attempting to bulk up which will allow me to eat more, but it still does get a little old after a while. I haven't ever tried things like
Phentermine or other drugs that supress appetite as I'm not really sure how they work and haven't really read anything that suggest that they would be of any help to me. I really need to make a decision about this running although I feel like my mind has already been made up. I really feel like this running isn't fun anymore because I'd basically be going down to do it on my own and I don't want to do that. Oh well, I guess it was cool to train, but I wish I could have finished what I started. I just don't know if the motivation is there at this point.
The New Brewers?
Baseball is going through a pretty rough spell of late. They are doing a lot to clean up the game but all the dirt that is being discovered has left a bad taste in the mouth of a lot of fans. I used to laugh about the fact that there was a team named after beer, more or less, but now new possibilities have been opened. "Straight from
drug rehab, please welcome the Calcutta Pharmaceuticals", or the "Washington Wasted nearly won the pennant last night with a 9th inning of binge hitting". Sports anchors everywhere will be drooling at the pun possibilities. Something tells me it won't happen, but hey, you never know.
Outnumbered
So far in this household I outnumbered three to one. I have a feeling that I will be investing in a lot of crazy things in the next few years that I wouldn't have otherwise. Tons of shoes, dolls and things like
Makeup Mirrors are definitely in my future. We want to have one more and I can only hope that it will be a boy. I need some backup. Of course I love my girls dearly and they have me totally wrapped around their little fingers so I can't complain too much. ;) Being a Daddy is probably got to be about the coolest thing that can happen to a guy, even if he is surrounded.
Temporary Expert
I feel like I have gotten really good at
Picking Paint colors in the last week or two with all the painting we've done here at the house and at church. The crazy thing is that in a few years when we paint again, I'll probably have no idea what I'm doing again and have to start all over. Of course if we manage to get our house sold I may be painting again pretty soon which will give me a better chance of remembering how to do this. I don't think any amount of experience is going to make me like to paint, but if I can just manage to do it right the first time, I will at least save myself some time.
Big Crowd
We have a big crowd at our house today. I'm watching four kids by myself all day. Two of them are our own and two of some friends of ours. Last night we had a lot of trouble getting them all in bed. I was almost wishing we had some
sleeper sofas. Kylie didn't want to sleep in the same bed as any of the other kids and Sadie refused to sleep by herself. Samuel and Kerrigan just went straight to sleep, at least two of them weren't too particular. Our house definitely feels pretty small with this many children running around in it which is part of why we need to move. If we have one more it's going to be a zoo around here most of the time.
Padraig
So I have Padraig Harrington in my B list for fantasy golf this week. I'm hoping he will do me some good as I'm in a dog fight for the lead right now. Maybe I'll even get him some
irish gifts if he helps me out. (he's irish). Speaking of which, I love irish accents. They sound awesome. Come to think of it, all three UK accents are great. If I had to have an accent it would be one of those three or australian. Unfortunately I'm not that good at faking accents so I'll just have to stick to imagining it. The jury is still out on whether or not my accent would have any effect on my golf game though...
Good Water
We recently paid a ton of money to get a reverse osmosis filter for our water at home. It works amazingly well. So well that it has created a problem. My wife now doesn't really like the taste of water that hasn't come through our filter. It would be cool to have a portable
water bottle filter, but since we don't, we end up having to tote around water from our house. It isn't too annoying, but I can certainly imagine easier ways of doing things. It just goes to show that having something nice doesn't always solve all your problems. It sometimes just creates all new problems that you didn't even think of.
Sacred
Communion is a pretty sacred thing that as a Christian I take pretty seriously. I believe that you shouldn't take the opportunity lightly and that you need to have a pure heart when you do it. Catholics do it a little differently but I can't honestly speak to the differences. I know that they believe that the wine actually becomes the blood of Jesus at some point and that there is a necessity for
first communion gifts. It is very interesting the differences that can arise from similar religions. I wonder how God views all of that? I guess we'll find out at some point.
How does it happen?
Have you ever wondered how certain bad habits even get started? How do you even learn to become a money launderer or figure out how to crack safes for a living? Do you have to go to college to be a pharmacist in order to have access to enough drugs to acquire a
prescription drug addiction? I really have no idea how some of these things get started. Maybe I'm naive but I can only imagination that these things arise from some sort of desire or necessity at some point. I realize that circumstances play a big role as well, I guess it can just be hard to see if you haven't been in those same situations in your own life.
New Stuff
So we might have to buy more furniture as I mentioned in another post. I hope to find a way to retrofit everything we have so that we can keep costs down but you never know if that's going to work or not.
Powell furniture might have a good deal so we will have to check if the need arises. I really hope that all this works out and we can get this done and behind us. Trying to move is second only to actually moving when it comes to busy-ness.
Ache Man
No I'm not talking about Dallas Cowboy's Hall of famers, I'm talking about me. In the past week I've stayed up all night for an elementary lock in. (no I wasn't just looking for an excuse to hang with people on my same mental level). Then I followed that up with about 10 tons of work around the house to get it ready to go on the market. I haven't ran at all which is another story altogether. Some
Generic Ultram would certainly go a long way. All I can say is that I hope things slow down a little soon, but with 8 miles staring me down tomorrow, I kind of doubt it.
Fence Jumping 101
Apparently we are now putting up a fence between us and Mexico to prevent illegal immigration. This may work for a while, but I think eventually those people that are determined enough to get to the other side will find a way. How are we going to be able to tell? Will it be a
dna test for immigration? I think not. I think it will be pretty easy to tell. The only two ways to get here now are via catapult or cave. So anyone with dirty fingernails that can't produce an id fast enough will find themselves headed back. Thats assuming we were smart enough to put a gate in the fence otherwise we will need to build a catapult of justice. It might scare the spelunkers at least.
No Idea
I'm going to be honest. I have absolutely no idea what
HDMI cable is. However if you happen to know what it is and need some, follow the link. Maybe it means High Density Mariachi Instruments. Or possibly, How Do Mailmen Inspect? Those seem somewhat unlikely, but you never know. Perhaps Help, Da Moose Itches! or Happy Day, More Indigestion. I honestly have no idea, but if you do, you know where to find some. Really don't tell me, I don't want to know.
Nice
If you are pro golfer, is there some rule that you have to own a house in florida? It seems like they all do so there must be some reason. Perhaps they just love a good
Orlando Pool Home? Or maybe they just like living all together like that so that nobody can really get mad about a broken window caused by a shanked practice ball. I'd guess the real reason is that it's easier to introduce the new young golfers to the Swedish nannies that way. I know Tiger is at least happy about that particular perk. In any case I'm guessing that it's probably just peer pressure. I mean what self respecting golfer would live in Ohio? ;)
