Slowness

It drives me crazy when I'm trying to get something done and my computer won't cooperate.  computer running slow or locking up can really put me in a bad mood in a hurry.

Many times a RAM upgrade will do the trick but there is also the never ending battle with spyware, spam and trojan horses.  It's gets old constantly fighting all these things just to keep your pc running smoothly.

Throw in the fact that most of us use more than one computer these days and you just can't keep up with it all.  Frankly, if you don't keep learning about what to look for it's not even really possible to keep up.  I'm sure there is already plenty that I don't know about.

Black Walnut

Soon we are off to the Black Walnut festival.  It's a fun fall festival in the town where my wife grew up.  I don't like walnuts or any other kind of nut but the festival is still a lot fun.  There are plenty of food options that are nut free, and lots of fun things for the kids to do.

Plus it's just fun to hang out with family.  We don't all get together all that often and that always feels good to spend time together.

Waxing Guitars

At one point I really wanted to learn how to play guitar.  It was before our kids were born but I used to go and look at the guitars and among others stores and brands.  I started working through a lesson book learning the basics but once our first child was born I pretty much gave it up.

At this point I'm not sure that I have the same desire to do it anymore.  My leanings wax and wane quite a bit and there are only a handful of things that hang around long term.  It seems that my desire to play guitar was one of the ones that didn't.

Banding Together

My oldest daughter is in 3rd grade this year.  I'm not sure if they still do it the same way but when I was in 5th grade we started band at school.  If so then it won't be long before we are looking at band instruments.

I have no indication of what type she might like to play, but she does love music so I can see her being really into the band in general.  Same for my middle daughter.  My son, however, will be a drummer for sure.  He has had a drum set since he was 2 and already needs a new one because it is completely worn out.

It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Perfectly Irrelevant

OSU beat Nebraska last week and by doing so cleared one of the biggest hurdles in the way of having a perfect season.  There are still some tough games left on the roster but none against ranked teams if I remember right.

Having been to two games this season and seen the team with my own eyes, I don't really feel like they are as good as their record, but having said that, they are growing under a new coach and looked really good last week.

It would be a real shame to go undefeated in a year that they are ineligible for the post season.  Not that I'm wishing for a loss.  On the contrary, this could set them up for an amazing run next year if everyone stays healthy.

Close to not much

The Browns put together a pretty good effort for about the first half of the game against the Giants.  Close, but no macanudo cigars.  As it happened they got blown out in the second half.   Other than Trent Richardson, I don't see a lot of hope on the offensive side of the ball.

Defensively, they have a pretty good roster when everyone is on the field.  I think they could compete with their defense if they had even a mediocre offense that could play on an NFL level.  As usual, we still don't have a QB and now with having used a first round pick on Brandon Weeden, we will have to wait a couple of years for him to fully fail before we can hopefully draft someone who can lead us to the playoffs again.  Sorry, but I'm just not buying into Weeden.

Dressed for Success

It's one thing to compete in really comfortable clothes that perfectly adapted to help you perform in the most affective way.  It's another thing to compete in really uncomfortable clothing that couldn't be worse for doing what you are trying to do.

Both a competitive ball room dancer and an equestrian rider are good examples.  Both of those outfits are ill-suited for their tasks but required for the sport itself.  Personally, I'd always rather compete in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt so thankfully I don't ride or dance.
