Video Games
I love video games but at this point in my life I have so little time to play them. I recently bought an xbox and it has basically been collecting dust since I got it. I don't even look at
ps3 bundles because if I don't have time for one, I definitely won't have time for two.
Part of the problem is that by the time I get to sit down at night, the idea of doing anything besides vegging out is tough. Plus not all the games I like are kid appropriate (shooting etc) so I can't play when the kids are there. Maybe as my kids get older things will get easier. Who knows.
Iconic
There are certain things that are iconic to your profession. Glasses for a librarian,
lab coat for a doctor, or even a briefcase for a lawyer.
Some of these things were very relevant to the profession in that past and may or may not be now. Are lab coats still really necessary for a doctor? Do all librarians have bad eyes? Obviously not but it's become expected to the point where it's hard not to notice its' absence.
For me, I don't look like a typical nerd but that is what my job is. To some degree I think that does affect the perception I have with some people. Good or bad.
