Tiger Recap
Tiger's speech is done, and I thought he sounded sincere. I realize that it was well rehearsed and there were several things that seemed thrown in for PR reasons. As a religious person, it annoys me a little when celebs throw out the religion card to underscore their spiritual turnarounds. I have no idea if what he had to say about his relationship to Buddhism was real or designed for PR. As a Christian I would hope he would turn there, but time will tell what he will ultimately decide.
It does sound to me as if he will not be playing golf any time soon. My impression was that fixing his personal life was going to be his single minded work for some time to come. We all know what happens when Tiger puts his mind to something, so I don't think there will be any room for golf until something gets resolved with Elin. That will take a long time, so I think his return will take a long time as well.
In the end I imagine he is feeling something akin to
hemorrhoids relief for being done with the press conference. Time will tell what will ultimately happen.
Beginners Luck
There's nothing like weight loss for beginner's luck. It's pretty standard issue and frankly, it's not luck. If you suddenly start working out and eating right when you had done nothing like that before, then of course you are going to have a
quick weight loss.
The hard part is that you settle into a pattern after that that can be discouraging. You have to be dedicated for the long term and be able to see beyond your weekly numbers to what that will look like in 3, 4, 5, or 6 months. One pound a week, is 26 pounds in 6 months.
The Olympics
I love watching the Olympics. It's riveting to watch people compete at the top of athleticism regardless of the sport. Some of the events are obscure, and I know about as much about them as I do
under eye cream, but the emotion and the artistry is obvious.
If you love sports and great athletes, I don't know how you couldn't love this stuff. Admittedly, I have my limits. I don't really enjoy the figure skating, but most of it is enjoyable to watch.
Tiger
So I'm getting ready to listen to the Tiger Woods press conference. I'm sure that doing this is going to be about as much fun for him as
adult cystic acne. Does he owe me an apology? No. Was I a fan that was disappointed? Sure. Will I probably look at him differently from now on? Sure.
I was a big fan and loved to watch him play. I didn't agree with everything he did but I respected how he managed his game and fame. I just don't think that I will be able to be the same fan that I was before.
Tough Times
People aren't talking about it as much but the economy is still in a pretty fragile state. Lot's of people still don't have
jobs. I have a friend who has been out of work for more than a year.
I also wonder if we are truly on the way out of the recession or if there will be the dreaded "double dip". I have heard that such a thing is possible so you never know. As of yet, it hasn't affected us so I'm hoping that things continue to improve so that it won't.
In the mean time I have to just stick with the plan and prepare as best I can.
