What's Up Doc?

Insurance is a good thing but clearly this insurance is so high due to the fact that if a doctor makes a mistake it can cost someone their life. (one of many reasons I didn't want that job).

Thankfully I have never been put in the position where I feel like a doctor's mistake caused harm to someone I knew or loved, so I will be careful not to judge, but I have to wonder if this isn't taken too far a little too often.

Super Week

Gearing up for a really interesting Super Bowl rematch this coming weekend. Obviously I will be rooting for the Giants as I have no love for the Patriots. They have the double whammy against them. A QB from Michigan and a coach that stunk for my team and then went on to win for the Pats.

Plus I kind of like the idea of Eli getting a second Super Bowl and being mentioned as something other than Peyton's little brother. There is something about that that I like.

Go G-Men!!

Doomsday

I'm not a big conspiracy guy but I am confused. I've read 3 or 4 different books in the last year related to climate change. They all said more or less the same thing. If we don't stop dirtying up the atmosphere REALLY soon, we are heading for serious trouble.

Despite what you hear in the media, these scientists weren't unsure of the facts and rarely differed even on smaller points.

So if it's this obvious to science that we're killing the planet, then why does no one care? The negative credibility campaign against global issues has clearly been one of the most effective knowledge bias campaigns of all time.

I truly believe that history will look back on this time as the great march of the lemmings in which we march the human race right off a cliff.

It isn't just a minor issue, all the evidence points to a serious problem up to and including global extinction should we not take DRASTIC action now. How is this not a bigger deal?

Dressin Up

I don't have too many occasions that necessitate me to dress really nice. My job is pretty informal and I don't have a lot of personal engagements that require a nice suit.

Despite that I can't help but admire a guy that really knows how to dress well. It seems so easy when I see someone else doing it but I would have no idea where to begin if I wanted to do it for myself.

Like what suits are best, and how to get a good cut. Pocket square or not? How best to accessorize (I saw a pair of watch movement cufflinks online and they looked really cool)

Also how do you afford all this? It isn't cheap to dress well and I have always found that I have other things I'd rather do with my money. I would like to do a better job of it someday though.

Season Assessment

Well another year for the Browns is in the books. It was yet another embarrassing display of non-competitiveness. Some are talking about the draft and how we have 2 first round picks to help improve the team. Call me pessimistic but I'm fairly certain that we would still stink next year if we had ALL the first round picks. There is just no talent on this team right now. No leadership, no wily veterans to galvanize the young guys, and no belief that this team can compete with ANYONE.

We've had approximately 54637218567482482967887642 different coaches, gm's, and quarterbacks since we came back and nothing has worked, short of the blind squirrel year in 2002.

I'm very jealous of the Bengals right now and I want so badly for this team to improve but I can't see them getting enough talent to compete for at least 3 years.

Dual Control

My wife and I are complete opposites when it comes to what temperature we find comfortable. Our house temp is a compromise in which I am too warm generally and she is too cold. We have found that there are ways to have our cake and eat it too.

One way is a dual control heated mattress pad. My wife can comfortably broil herself all night long while I am content to just use normal covers. As it is, the one we have is completely worn out and we need a new one. We even flipped it around after her side wore out so she could use my side (which had rarely been turned on).
