Dentist
Today I'm going to be on the
exam table, or chair or whatever you might call it at the dentist. I'm not looking forward to it because I'm pretty sure that it won't be good news. I have done terrible the last six months and unlike when I was younger, I can't seem to get away with that now.
My hope is that I don't have any cavities but honestly I will be surprised. I hate getting my teeth worked on as it generally means that I have to get things corrected if my bite doesn't feel right or whatever. Here's hoping it all goes well, and that I can get back to taking better care of my teeth.
Internet Addiction
Checking facebook 200 times a day? You may have a problem. In some ways I feel like it can become an
e cigarette that is hard to ignore. I'm on the computer all day at work and I tend to mostly ignore it at home. Eight hours a day on it is plenty for me.
Others have more trouble. They feel obsessed with not missing a single facebook post or comment. I've even had to block some people on my friend list because they post so much that I can't hardly see what anyone else is saying.
Do we need treatments for internet addiction?
Ping Pong
I really enjoy playing ping pong, or
newgy table tennis as some refer to it. I used to play all the time in college and wasn't too terrible. I don't play very often these days but I like to when I can.
Recently we had a double elimination tourny here at work. I didn't do too bad. I got a couple wins before getting knocked out and had a lot of fun.
Supposedly they are going to do a racquetball tournament next, which is another of my favorites from my early twenties. Maybe I'll do a little better in that one.
Gifts
I love getting gifts from my kids. I have stuff all over my office that they have made for me over the years. Obviously it doesn't mean much to anyone else but there is nothing like an "I love you, Daddy" card written in crayon to make you smile. There really isn't anything quite like
personalized dad gifts from kids.
I have some really cool stuff that they have made me. My favorite is one that my wife helped them with. It's a picture of each of them in a row, and they are making signs to say "I", "Love", "You".
Being a Dad is a lot of work but it is also very rewarding. Getting a huge hug or a special gift like that can really make my day.
